 Equipment
Thermal modification of wood takes place in a high temperature (ca. 200
°C) and accurately controlled conditions.
The equipment has been constructed to resist the stress caused by high
temperature, acids and other compounds evaporating from wood. Particular
attention has been paid to reliability, durability and low maintenance of
technical solutions. Complete equipment is made of stainless steel (AISI
304).
The control system tailored for thermal modification is capable of
treating also green timber; only the timber drying phase has to be included
in the form. The throughput time of the process is 1,5 - 3 days,
depending on timber thickness and quality. Using pre-dried timber shortens
the throughput time.
As heat sources we use thermo oil techniques or direct electrical heating,
both of them allowing the accurate control required in the thermal
modification process.
