In 1960 two private entrepreneurs, Reino and Tauno Jarvinen, made a rental
agreement of a building site, where later in the same year was built a
two-store building for living and minor industrial use. At this facility
the two brothers continued the already started business as a manufacturer
for light metal constructions.
In 1962 the company name was changed as Jarvinen Metal Bros.
In the midlle of the 1960’s the product range expanded into machines and
special equipment for mechanical timber industry. These included panelboard
saws, high-frequency presses, timber handling equipment and different types
of production lines for timber industry.
At the same time in addition to the manufacturing of machines and
equipment, another part of the company manufactured metal parts for
furniture industry. This part of the company supplied the furniture
industry in Lahti-region as far as to the year of 1986.
In the year 1972 the company structure was changed as
limited company and named as Jarme Oy. The core business started to
concentrate more in machine and equipment manufacturing and also in being
as a major supplier for another machine building companies, such as Raute
and Plan-Sell.
In 1979 the Jarvinen brothers retired from entrepreneurship and the
business continued under the management of Raimo Kainulainen for the next
eight years, during this time period also the exports got under way. The
export product-range consisted mainly of urethane presses and presses for
glue-laminated timber, of which production was started before 1979.
In 1987 the business management and ownership shifted from Raimo
Kainulainen to the operative management of Jarme. The new shareholders were
Leo Laapotti, Erkki Mattila and Pentti Kallio.
In 1986 Jarme started co-operation with a designing company, Klasu Konsult
Oy. As a result of the co-operation the two companies designed several
mills for sawn timber handling, dimension sorting, battening, trimming and
stacking.
In 1997 when 80 % of the turnover was generated from sawmill machinery
Jarme established its own designing company, Jarme Wood Oy. The designing
office acquired an experienced and highly professional staff, who has
designed highly competitive and effective equipment for sawn timber
handling. The staff of Jarme Wood has experience from companies such as
Plan-Sell and Ahlstrom Sahakoneet, among others.
In the beginning of 2002 two major sawmill suppliers
joined forces, when Tekmawood together with Lahti-region Capital Investment
Fund acquired the majority of shares of Jarme companies. This resulted in
the establishment of a new leading timber industry service and equipment
provider, Jartek Group. Nowadays Jartek Group is the leading Finnish
supplier of sawmill and engineered wood equipment, drying kilns and
Thermowood heat treatment facilities.
The latest acquisition was in January 2006, when an engineered wood
equipment supplier and a importing company, Junotec Oy was acquired as a
part of Jarme’s organization. This new branch in Jartek Group will provide
technologically advanced solutions for engineered wood manufacturing, such
as glue-laminated timber, planing mills, finger jointing lines and
optimization of sawn timber.
Jartek Mekano Oy merged to its' mother company Jartek Oy at the end of
the year 2008.
